Construction Kickoff for Greenleaf Classroom Building to Open Alumni Weekend 2011!

The entire MFS community is invited to a Construction Kickoff ceremony for the Greenleaf Classroom Building on Friday, May 6 at 1:30 p.m. This will be the opening event for Alumni Weekend and all MFS students will also be in attendance.

Thanks to over $4 million in commitments from lead donors, the MFS School Committee has approved beginning the renovation of the 15,000-square-foot South Annex building on the school’s Greenleaf property to become a new classroom building. The building will be the home of the Math Department (eight classrooms) and will also contain a soundproof choral music suite. A new path leading from the tennis courts will bring students and faculty to the building.

Classroom Building on the former Greenleaf property

Planned Opening: Winter 2011-12

To Contain:

  • Eight Math Classrooms,
  • Choral Music Suite,
  • Tech Lab
  • and more!

“We have developed wonderful architectural plans for this project,” said Head of School Larry Van Meter ’68. “This effort will help us significantly address the classroom shortage we have in the Middle and Upper School, and once we are able to move the Math Department to the Greenleaf property, we will then be able to create more science labs in the lower level of the Middle and Upper School.”

Fundraising for the capital campaign, which is addressing these classroom and lab needs, is ongoing.

Parking is available at the former Acme parking lot at 123 Chester Ave.
