The biggest changes to the event surround the silent auction portion. This year in lieu of a large silent auction there will be two new categories of items and gifts – sealed bid and exclusive items. Visit the Auction website for more information! Tickets are $115 per person and $225 per couple. For more information and to purchase tickets, contact Matt Nierenberg at 856-914-4416.

MFS Presents Our Town:

Tickets are now on sale for the Moorestown Friends School presentation of Our Town, Thornton Wilder's most celebrated play. It opened on Broadway in 1938, received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and went on to become one of the most frequently performed American plays of the 20th century. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the play reveals the ordinary lives of people in the small town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire. With its focus on the precious moments in everyday life, Our Town follows the lives of two young neighbors: George Gibbs, a doctor’s son, and Emily Webb, the daughter of a newspaper editor in a small town, who fall in love.

Artist-in-Residence Brings Skills, Experience and Personality To Students

http://www.mfriends.org/07/graphical_email/images/hezeandthirdgraders_000.jpgArtist-in-Residence Hezekiah Lewis, assistant professor of communications at Villanova, film director and writer, brought an infectious enthusiasm to MFS students during his two-week stay in February. Lewis worked with a group of 13 Upper School Assistant Producers charged with creating a short video celebrating the school's 225th anniversary. The final piece will debut at the Parent Council Auction on March 12.

Sophomore Sarah Master appreciated the practical experience she has gained. "I've enjoyed being so hands-on with all of the equipment," she said. She enjoyed Lewis' collaborative style. "I expected him to come in and tell us what to do," she said. "It was the complete opposite...we organized the entire video: casting, writing, the students have done it all."

http://www.mfriends.org/07/graphical_email/images/hezeharris_001.jpgIn addition to producing the 225th anniversary video with the assistance of the Upper School students, Lewis also worked with Middle School students to produce a variety show. He visited with many Lower School students discussing with them the basics of video production such as position titles and responsibilities, overviews of equipment and the actual production process.

"Hezekiah was great with the kids," said Arts Department Chair Brian Howard. "We're fortunate to have had him with us for two weeks and I know the students really learned alot."
