MFS News May 11, 2009 NINE STUDENTS WIN GOLD MEDALS ON NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM
Nine Moorestown Friends School (MFS) students won gold medal placements for their excellent performance on the 2009 National Spanish Examinations, which were taken by 115,000 U.S. students this year. The National Spanish Examinations are administered annually in grades 7 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Gold medal recognition goes to students scoring at or above the 95th percentile. MFS students won a total of 45 medals. Gold medalists from MFS were seniors Aubrie Campbell and Daniel Siegeltuch, freshmen Edward Barrett and Lorenzo Gibson, and eighth graders Ashleigh Cartwright, Philip Elberfeld, Tyler Gottlieb, Andrew Jaffe and Reena Karasin. MFS Spanish teachers are: World Languages Department Chair Josefina Paolello, Robert Buscaglia, Mariana Falana, Valerie Franz, Emily Romero, Karen Washington, Melodee Williams and Maureen Zausner.
