MFS News May 14, 2008 MFS TO HOST NEW JERSEY SCIENCE OLYMPIAD - SATURDAY, MAY 17
Moorestown Friends School (MFS) will host a tournament for the Elementary School Division (Grades 4-6) of the New Jersey Science Olympiad on Saturday, May 17. Eight schools, including MFS, will compete in the tournament. The event begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. All participants are invited to a robotics demonstration by the award-winning MFS Upper School robotics team at 3:00 p.m. while the judges are making their determinations. Students will compete in 14 events, including Barge Building, Bottle Music, Grasp a Graph, Science Jeopardy, and Simple Machines. Two other tournaments for this age group were held in New Jersey this year, in West Amwell in February and in Scotch Plains in April. This is the third year that MFS has competed in the NJ Science Olympiad at the Elementary and Middle School levels, and the second year it has competed at the Upper School level.
