DR. DAN GOTTLIEB TO SPEAK AT MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL OCTOBER 11
Noted psychologist Dr. Dan Gottlieb will speak at Moorestown Friends School (MFS) on Thursday, October 11 at 7 p.m. in the school’s Auditorium. The topic of the presentation will be “How to Listen So Kids Will Speak.” The event is open to the public and admission is free. It is sponsored by the MFS Parent Council.
Gottlieb is a family therapist in private practice and a nationally recognized lecturer in the field of mental health. Since 1985 he has hosted "Voices in the Family," an award-winning mental health call-in radio show on WHYY 90.9 FM, Philadelphia's local public radio station. In 1993, he began writing a bimonthly column for the Philadelphia Inquirer titled "Inside Out," reflecting his perspective on the events in the world around us and the many ways we experience those events. He has published three books, Voices in the Family, Voices of Conflict; Voices of Healing and his latest, Letters to Sam, which was published in 2006. He lectures locally and nationally on a variety of topics concerning the well being of people, families and the larger community.
Gottlieb began his practice as a psychologist and family therapist in 1969. In 1979 he was in a near fatal automobile accident which left him paralyzed from the chest down. He has since faced depression, divorce and multiple additional losses. Through all of these trials he maintained his career. He has two daughters and a grandson named Sam who is on the autism spectrum.
