After his
presentation, Dr. Broccoli will respond to audience
questions.
Global warming
-- the increase in the global average temperature – has
garnered renewed attention recently, as some in the
scientific community attribute the increased severity
of recent hurricanes including Katrina and Wilma
to its effects. The proponents of this view note
that higher ocean temperatures lead to more intense
storms. Others in the scientific community attribute
the severity of the storms to natural cycles in sea
surface temperatures.
Humans contribute
to global warming through the buildup of greenhouse
gases from power plants, oil refining and auto emissions.
