HOT STREAK CATAPULTS FOXES INTO FRIENDS SCHOOLS LEAGUE

AND NJSIAA PLAYOFFS

The Moorestown Friends School varsity baseball team (9-6 overall/6-4 FSL) clinched a Friends Schools League playoff berth with a 7-2 victory over host Abington Friends School on Saturday. The Foxes were led by third baseman Evan Plys (Sr./Haddonfield) who hit for the cycle and drove in three runs. Andrew Bernard (Sr./Merchantville) earned the win on the mound for the visitors.

The win wrapped up a 4-0 week for the Foxes. They defeated Westampton Tech 9-3 on Monday, May 7, downed George School 9-4 on Tuesday to clinch a berth in the NJSIAA playoffs, and won a thrilling 6-5 contest over visiting Friends Select on Thursday with Plys scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Nick Harbist (Jr./Moorestown) sacrifice fly.

The #4 seed Foxes will travel to the undetermined #1 seed (Germantown Friends, Friends Central, or Shipley) on Wednesday for a semifinal matchup. Semifinal game times are 4:15 p.m. The FSL final will be played Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home field of the highest remaining seed.

MFS will also compete in the NJSIAA Non-Public B playoffs. Championship brackets and game dates and times have yet to be announced.
